    Standing up to Hate Speech

PLAN to KKOH: “You’ve dirtied your hands by promoting a hate-group; use this soap and brushes to wash off the muck”

On Wednesday, September 10, 10:30 a.m. at the KKOH offices, PLAN staff and allies will deliver soap and brushes to KKOH management to highlight the station’s participation in a hate group’s anti-immigrant conference.

KKOH will broadcast on Wednesday, September 10 from “Radio Row’ at the FAIR (Fairness and Accuracy in Immigration Reform) conference in Washington, DC. The Southern Poverty Law Center recently classified FAIR as a “hate organization” along with the Ku Klux Klan.

KKOH has tacitly endorsed FAIR (not to be confused with Fairness and Accuracy in Reporting) by featuring its conference logo on the front page of its website, and by broadcasting, for the second year, at its annual conference.

We are not protesting anyone’s position on immigration reform. We respect anyone’s right to disagree on this and every other issue facing our country. It’s good to have robust and spirited discussions about solutions to immigration.

But (un)FAIR, by sharing editorial space with white nationalists, meeting with known racist and anti-semitic political parties, and accepting funding from a eugenicist foundation, has crossed the line. And KOH and Citadel Broadcasting, by offering them free air time and participating in their conferences, has chosen to associate itself with this organization. They need to be called on the carpet and that’s what we intend to do. Nevada is Too Great for Hate.
