Living a Life, Excited to Evolve

At the heart of any civilization you will find their society’s calendar. All life is lived in reference to those twelve magical months collectively know as the Gregorian calendar. At least that’s the case for most of us. The funny thing is that the majority of people never question why it was ever put into play. We’ve never had any reason to.

That makes our calendar the most dogmatic force in all the world.

As 2012 approaches, and the Business attempts to cash in on our impending doom, it may serve well to do some research yourself. You’ll find that the Mayan calendar is not simply a countdown to catastrophe. The Mayan calendar charts the telescoping nature of evolution. According to Mayan cosmology, what feels to us like time speeding up is actually creation speeding up. More and more is happening in less and less time.

For any of you who may not know much about the Mayans I will provide a short breakdown of this significant shift in consciousness. And, don’t get caught up thinking you’ve been out of the loop because I am new to this as well. It actually made the experience more intriguing.

So, the essential difference between the Mayan calendar and the Gregorian calendar is that what we are all forced to use today is synchronization vs. chaos. Our Gregorian calendar mainly serves as a calendar of commerce, and more specifically agriculture. It is the calendar by which all things are bought and sold, and it is only based on Earth’s relation to the sun, as it tracks the amount of time it takes our planet to complete one revolution around our life giving star.

The chaotic thing about the Gregorian calendar is its irregularity and the way its unquestioned acceptance affects our mental state. Where we follow a 12 month calendar of mixed amounts of days (31,28or29,31,30,31 etc.), the Mayan cycle equivalent to a month was 28 days on a 13-month calendar. This cycle is perpetual and doesn’t call for a new calendar every year unless for some reason you’d still want to play along, which I guess is necessary for just a bit longer.

This idea may not be comprehensible without further research, but here is the correlation. The Gregorian calendar is commerce based and only relies on physical evidence. The Mayan calendar is based not only on Earth’s relation to the sun, but also our relation to the center of our galaxy, and it charts cycles of energy and the non-physical.

According to the Mayan Calendar, right now we are just passing through the mid-point of the sixth day in the Galactic Cycle (which btw is the 8th cycle in their 9 cycle period, look it up). At this point in evolution, which for anyone wondering is just as much if not more so an evolution of consciousness than the physical, we as a whole humanity, in an increasing number of individual minds, are becoming more aware of our effects on the planet and Earth’s relationship with our galaxy.

You can see the effects everywhere; powerful social networks, widespread media empowerment, grassroots orgs sprouting… and music/art of course.

It’s going down.

Here’s the idea. Perhaps if we keep in mind that there is a great underlying time signature to life beyond the physical and work related facets of our humanity, we will turn the norm into routine and start living life excited to evolve, thus creating our own collective bright future.

Cheers.
