The vast majority of the residents here are religious conservatives, if not outright racists. Ironically, there's a large population of Hispanic immigrants here, working in the poultry plants and other industries. Deal has been mostly a do-nothing in his long and undistinguished tenure as a reprehensible; he gets up and grandstands on occasion but his constituents would be hard-pressed to name anything he's actually done besides vote the way he's told. That he's leaving Congress to run for gov. has me both relieved and apprehensive: the latter because we could end up with a Michele Bachmann-type of embarrassment (and the voters here would eat it up).
