Happy New Year! For Imagine 2050 and Center for New Community, 2013 was a year filled with great accomplishments. In the midst of increased efforts by the anti-immigrant movement and anti-Muslim activists, we joined community leaders, grassroots organizations, and national partners to counter racism, nativism, and bigotry.
In 2013, we supported successful campaigns in Colorado that led to undocumented residents being granted driver’s licenses; instate tuition for undocumented students; and the passing of the TRUST Act, which repeals an earlier law that required law enforcement to collaborate with immigration authorities. We developed an astonishing timeline that reveals the role race and labor have played on our food system; and fulfilled hundreds of research needs – nationally and internationally – that helped counter hateful rhetoric and activity. Stories you read about every day on Imagine 2050 influenced conversations in publications and radio programs throughout the country.
Our work is not done, though. The anti-immigrant movement, anti-Muslim groups like ACT! for America, and others who profit from pushing bigotry and racism are committed to disrupting all efforts toward peace, inclusion, and acceptance.
And in 2014, we are more committed than ever to stopping them. But we can’t do that without your support.
With your contribution, we can continue to print critical reports like The Quinacrine Report, a publication that traces the origins of some of today’s most insidious far-right movements and exposes decades of attacks on women. Your support enables our organizers to travel and lend support to a community fighting on the front lines of nativist activity. A donation from our supporters allows our researchers to respond to requests for assistance from a local group encountering racist activity in their communities. And your contribution keeps Imagine 2050 up and running.
The season for giving is still here. Until January 31, our board of directors will match all donations up to $3000. Double your donation impact, and give today.
