The keynote speaker at ACT! for America’s conference this year will be Ayaan Hirsi Ali. Born in Somalia, Hirsi Ali has become one of the world’s most prominent anti-Muslim voices.

Like ACT! founder Brigitte Gabriel, Hirsi Ali regularly draws on her personal history to inform and lend a false sense of credibility to her bigoted attacks on Islam and Muslims. In her fierce opposition to the religion, she has previously described Islam as “a destructive, nihilistic cult of death.” She has also claimed that the religion must be “defeated” and only then can it “mutate into something peaceful.”

Hirsi Ali was granted political asylum in the Netherlands in the 1990s. In 2003, she was elected to the Dutch Parliament and became a close associate of the virulently anti-Muslim Geert Wilders. She resigned from her position in 2006 and has since become a United States citizen.

Hirsi Ali has continued to voice her fearmongering opposition to Islam in recent years with multiple books including her latest, Heretic: Why Islam Needs a Reformation Now.

In announcing that Hirsi Ali would attend this year’s conference, Gabriel wrote, “Ayaan’s story is one of freedom overcoming tragedy and unconquerable courage in the face of danger.” She added, “I am absolutely ecstatic that she will be our keynote speaker.”

Hirsi Ali is also likely ecstatic as well to address a conference whose attendees will likely accept all of her vicious attacks and mischaracterizations as undisputable fact.
