ACT! Spotlight: Erick Stakelbeck, Pat Robertson’s anti-Muslim ‘watchman’

Imagine 2050 • Sep 03, 2015

Erick Stakelbeck is a reporter and terrorism analyst for Pat Robertson’s Christian Broadcast Network. He hosts the CBN program “The Watchman with Erick Stakelbeck” and has authored several books, including The Terrorist Next Door: How the Government is Deceiving You About the Islamist Threat.

As with so many others who operate in the organized Islamophobia profession, Stakelbeck lacks any formal training or academic background to substantiate his status as a self-described “sought after authority on Middle East and national security-related issues.” Prior to joining CBN, Stakelbeck worked as a sports reporter.

In his position at CBN, Stakelbeck peddles well-worn conspiracies that are ubiquitous in anti-Muslim circles. He regularly casts suspicion about Muslims with outlandish warnings of “no-go zones,” ominous “stealth jihad,” and supposed “infiltration” being carried out by Muslims in the United States. He has even gone so far as to describe the president as “Imam Obama.”
Stakelbeck’s work has allowed him to be a fixture at anti-Muslim events. He has been a featured speaker at events sponsored by anti-Muslim groups including the Center for Security Policy and David Horowitz Freedom Center. He has also addressed previous iterations of ACT! for America’s annual conference.
