A new event under the anti-Muslim banner “Global Rally for Humanity” has been announced for Ocala, Florida on October 10. The event is being organized by the Florida Gun Supply, a gun store that was declared a ‘Muslim-free zone’ by its owner, Andy Hallinan, in a Youtube video earlier this year.
The rally is scheduled to take place outside the Masjid Darul-Islam Center of Ocala, Florida.
Last week, Imagine 2050 reported on the approximately 20 loosely organized anti-Muslim demonstrations scheduled to take place in front of mosques, community centers and government offices on October 9 and 10, all under the banner “Global Rally for Humanity.” (See below for a map of all of the planned protests.)
While the Ocala, Florida event is suggested to be in opposition to the Justice or Else Million Man March 20th Anniversary, it’s event cover photo tells a slightly different story:
“Stand up against evil Islam with like minded patriots from central Florida. Don’t be a keyboard warrior: join the movement to keep Islam out of our communities,” the event’s Facebook page reads.
The event, like others across the nation, is also suggesting participants will be armed with concealed firearms:
“Yes, if you have a concealed carry permit, you are welcome to carry.”
It’s also advertised some protesters at the event will be wearing bulletproof vests. However, it’s stated this is not as a means of protection, but rather as a way of “symbolizing that we are in a battle with Islam – which is not a religion of peace.”
Hallinan became the subject of controversy and a lawsuit after declaring his store to be Muslim-free.
“I have a moral and legal responsibility to ensure the safety of all patriots in my community, and so effective immediately, I’m declaring Florida Gun Supply as a Muslim-free zone,” he said in a video posted online where the Confederate flag served as a backdrop. “I will not arm and train those who wish to do harm to my fellow patriots.”
“We are in battle, patriots, but not only with Islamic extremism,” he added. “We’re also in battle against extreme political correctness that threatens our lives, because if we can’t call evil, evil for fear of offending people, then we can’t really defeat our enemies.”
The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) filed a lawsuit against Hallinan. The Islamophobic law firm the American Freedom Law Center, which is co-run by David Yerushalmi and Robert Muise, came to his defense.
