Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn (Ret.), who has served as a foreign policy adviser to Donald Trump, is now serving as an adviser to ACT for America, one of the most notorious anti-Muslim groups operating today.

“As many of you know, Lieutenant General (Ret.) Michael T. Flynn is a friend of ACT for America and serves in an advisory capacity on our Board of Directors,” reads a June 22 email from the group. The email noted that ACT for America is “honored” to have Flynn working with them on a “day-to-day” basis.

ACT for America claims to have 300,000 members and more than 1,000 chapters, which it mobilizes to advocate for discriminatory policies aimed at vilifying the American Muslim community and making it harder for them to practice their faith.

Flynn, who retired from military service in 2014, has been unofficially advising Trump on foreign policy matters during his presidential run. It is also rumored that Flynn is on the real estate mogul’s list of potential running mates.

Flynn’s adviser role is only his newest way of supporting ACT for America.

In a February 29 tweet, Flynn praised ACT’s founder and president Brigitte Gabriel, a notorious anti-Muslim demagogue. A day earlier, Gabriel was photographed with Trump at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida. Gabriel was apparently at the estate to give a “national security briefing.”

The former Lt. Gen. is also scheduled to speak at ACT’s national conference and legislative briefing in September. He is similarly set to make an appearance in Broadview Heights, Ohio on July 15 to speak at an event sponsored by the Cleveland ACT chapter.

According to The Daily Beast, Flynn also advised Sen. Ted Cruz during his presidential run. While running for office, Cruz appointed various anti-Muslim figures for his foreign policy advisory team.

Following the mass shooting at Pulse, a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida, Flynn penned an op-ed scolding President Obama for counseling “us all on gun control” and telling the nation to “stand up for the LGBT.”

“We don’t need him to preach to us,” Flynn wrote, “we needed him to lift us out of the shock that America was feeling after yet another  horrific attack perpetrated by a Muslim man who has been radicalized in the faith of Islam.”
