There Goes the Neighborhood: December 9, 2016

Imagine2050 Staff • Dec 09, 2016

There Goes the Neighborhood is a weekly series from Imagine 2050 staff highlighting upcoming nativist events.

This week, nativist events are scheduled in Colorado, Florida, and California.

On Friday, December 9, 2016, Mark Krikorian of the anti-immigrant Center for Immigration Studies will participate in a panel discussion in Boulder, Colorado. The topic of the discussion will be “Immigration Enforcement in the United States.” Krikorian, who recently equated sanctuary policies with segregation laws, spoke on a panel in Washington, D.C. hosted by right-wing law firm Judicial Watch last week.

On Sunday, December 11, anti-Muslim group Citizens for National Security (CFNS) will host a “cyberwarfare, counterterrorism, cybersecurity” seminar in Boca Raton, Florida. CFNS hosted Sebastian Gorka last month, and has worked with anti-Muslim groups like ACT for America and the Eagle Forum on efforts to remove supposed pro-Muslim bias in school textbooks.

Finally, on Wednesday, December 14, anti-Muslim demagogue David Horowitz will speak in Los Angeles, California. The event is sponsored by Horowitz’s Freedom Center, which last month hosted numerous far-right and anti-Muslim speakers at its annual Restoration Weekend.

Additional information on these nativist events and others can be found in the map below. A red star indicates events scheduled for next week.
