There Goes the Neighborhood: January 27, 2017

Imagine2050 Staff • Jan 27, 2017

There Goes the Neighborhood is a weekly series from Imagine 2050 staff highlighting upcoming nativist events.

This week, anti-Muslim events are scheduled in Florida and Texas.

On Sunday, January 29, anti-Muslim group Citizens for National Security (CFNS) will host a presentation by far-right activist Dan Bongino. CFNS has worked with other anti-Muslim groups including ACT for America and the Eagle Forum. Bongino moved to Florida from Maryland to pursue a third consecutive, and unsuccessful, Congressional bid last year and has been active with far-right strategy group Groundswell.

On Monday, January 30, anti-Muslim group Truth in Texas Textbooks will sponsor a presentation by conspiracy theorist Trevor Loudon in Austin, Texas. The presentation will include a screening of Loudon’s documentary The Enemies Within, a conspiracy-laden documentary alleging communist infiltration of the U.S. Government. Truth in Texas Textbooks is now a project of grassroots anti-Muslim group ACT for America. Its founder, Roy White, spoke in California earlier this month.

Finally, on Tuesday, January 31, Trevor Loudon will speak to a newly-formed ACT for America chapter in Flower Mound, Texas. Loudon’s appearance will mark the ACT chapter’s inaugural meeting. According to an email shared by the chapter on Facebook, Loudon will be showing “undercover video and talking about Islamists among us.”
