A former policy analyst for the country’s most prominent anti-immigrant think tank, Jon Feere is reportedly assuming an “immigration-related position” at the Department of Homeland Security
Jon Feere has worked as a policy analyst at the anti-immigrant Center for Immigration Studies (CIS) since 2002. During his time at CIS, Feere has testified before Congress in opposition to birthright citizenship protections granted by the Fourteenth Amendment, and regularly spoke with media to promote CIS’s nativist policy goals. On January 26, The Washington Post, citing former officials, reported that Feere ” is in line to join the Trump administration in an immigration-related position at the Department of Homeland Security.” Documents later obtained by ProPublica indicate Feere began working as a DHS advisor on January 27.
- Feere has questioned the ability of undocumented young people to faithfully serve in the military.
- In 2012, he gave an interview to a journalist at the anti-Semitic newspaper American Free Press.
