There Goes the Neighborhood: July 7, 2017

Imagine2050 Staff • Jul 07, 2017

There Goes the Neighborhood is a weekly series from Imagine 2050 staff highlighting upcoming nativist events.

Next week, a flamboyant bigot promotes his new book in California.

On Friday, July 14, the anti-Muslim David Horowitz Freedom Center (DHFC) will host a reception and book signing featuring right-wing provocateur Milo Yiannopoulos in Los Angeles, California. In February, Yiannopoulos teamed up with DHFC to launch a campaign aimed at antagonizing immigrants on college campuses. After Yiannopoulos’s scheduled appearance at the University of California-Berkeley was cancelled following protests, he received an invitation from organizers to speaker at the annual Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington, D.C. After video surfaced of him making controversial statements earlier this year, Yiannopoulos was disinvited from the conservative conference and his employment at Breitbart News was terminated.

While DHFC and Yiannopoulos have not scheduled any additional campus events together, the latter spoke at a rally in New York organized by anti-Muslim firebrand Pamela Geller last month.

Additional information on these events and others can be found in the map below. A red star indicates events scheduled for next week.
