There Goes the Neighborhood: August 4, 2017

Imagine2050 Staff • Aug 04, 2017

There Goes the Neighborhood is a weekly series from Imagine 2050 staff highlighting upcoming nativist events.

This week, an active figure in the anti-Muslim movement speaks in Ohio.

On Monday, August 7, the Cleveland, Ohio chapter of anti-Muslim grassroots group ACT for America will host a presentation by noted anti-Muslim conspiracy theorists. Clare Lopez, of the conspiracy-spouting Center for Security Policy, will provide attendees with “an update on the Global Jihad.” Lopez and others comprising the organized anti-Muslim movement regular espouse baseless conspiracy theories about Muslim groups infiltrating the U.S. Government and other institutions. She has also parroted specious claims about United States courts enforcing Islamic law, including, as Right Wing Watch reported, from the stage of the annual Conservative Political Action Conference in February.

Ohio is a regular destination for Lopez. She spoke to another Buckeye State group in May.

Additional information on these events and others can be found in the map below. A red star indicates events scheduled for next week.
