There Goes the Neighborhood is a weekly series from Imagine 2050 staff highlighting upcoming nativist events.

This week, events in Florida and New York.

On Saturday, December 2, Protect US Workers, Florida attorney Sara Blackwell’s organization will host an event featuring U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Director Lee Francis Cissna in Orlando, Florida. According to an announcement on Protect US Workers’s website, “USCIS Director [Cissna] and representatives of Congress are attending” the event. As Imagine 2050 has previously reported, Blackwell has worked with the organized anti-immigrant movement. Blackwell and supporters of her organization held a rally outside the White House in June.

On Monday, December 4, Austrian anti-Muslim activist Elisabeth Sabaditsch-Wolff will speak in Hauppauge, New York. She will speak at a monthly meeting of Alert Long Island, the local chapter of national anti-Muslim grassroots group ACT for America. Sabadtisch-Wolff has previously been honored by ACT at the group’s national conference and has spoken to local chapters across the country in recent years. During her current stint in the United States, she also participated in a webcast on free speech hosted by the conspiracy-minded anti-Muslim Center for Security Policy, as Right Wing Watch reported.
