Anti-Immigrant Hidden Cameras & Neo-Nazi Patrols

The anti-immigrant group Center for Immigration Studies (CIS) released its “hidden camera” documentary film this past July. A ten minute video titled, “Hidden Cameras on the Arizona Border 2: Drugs, Guns and 850 Illegal Aliens,” is the second “hidden camera” video from CIS in the past two years.  CIS states that this film “focuses primarily on the environmental destruction caused by illegal activity on federal lands, highlighting in more detail waste and threat to wild animal life.”

This is not the first time CIS has attempted to reach out to environmentalists. Center for Immigration Studies (CIS) was founded in 1985 as a project directly under the control of the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR). CIS is part of a web of controversial anti-immigrant organizations orchestrated by John Tanton, who founded FAIR.

Groups like CIS, that use ungrounded arguments about ecological degradation for their anti-immigrant agenda, are now coming under harsh criticism from environmentalists. Read more

Neo-Nazi Leader Is a Secret Porn Star

One of the nation’s largest neo-Nazi organizations, the National Socialist Movement (NSM), suffered a humiliating blow today when one of its prominent leaders was revealed as a porn actor.

In a statement released on the website Portland Indymedia, the anti-fascist group Portland Anti-Racist Action detailed the appearance of Oregon NSM leader Corinna Luray Burt on several hardcore pornographic DVDs and websites. This revelation is expected to cause internal strife for the NSM, a white supremacist organization that has recently been engaged in high-publicity armed patrols along the Arizona border. Border vigilante groups, which have historically included the minutemen, now include neo-Nazis like National Socialist Movement members. Read more

What’s Wrong With Nebraska?

When people think of Nebraska, things like the open road or University of Nebraska Cornhusker’s great college football team come to mind. In recent weeks however, Nebraska has become a hotbed for white nationalist and anti-immigrant sentiment. Just last week, the residents of Fremont, Nebraska passed an anti-immigrant ordinance which bars businesses from hiring and landlords from renting to undocumented immigrants. The man behind the ordinance is Kris Kobach, a lawyer for the Immigration Reform Law Institute, the legal arm of the hate group, the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) which has strong ties to white nationalists.

This coming weekend, on land somewhere outside of Omaha, the American Division of Blood & Honour will be hosting a gathering. Blood & Honour was originally founded in England and is a neo-Nazi network. Blood & Honour American Division surfaced in 2005 by members of the neo-Nazi organization, Volksfront. Blood & Honour is made up of a toxic mix of Christian Identity adherents, racist skinheads and neo-Nazis. While the details of this weekend’s gathering are vague, there are some clues as to who is running this twisted festival. Read more

Armed Neo-Nazis Hunt Immigrants in Arizona Desert

The climate of fear in Arizona’s desert has just reached new levels. Stephen Lemons’ piece in yesterday’s Phoenix New Times clearly illustrates this as he documents his trip with J.T. Ready -a neo-Nazi and border vigilante.

As previously reported by Imagine2050, J.T. Ready is a well-known member of the National Socialist Movement, a neo-Nazi group. According to its website,

“Only those of pure White blood, whatever their creed, may be members of the nation. Non-citizens may live in America only as guests and must be subject to laws for aliens. Accordingly, no Jew or homosexual may be a member of the nation.”

In May, J.T. Ready and his white nationalist friends showed up to the anti-S.B 1070 rally with signs, confederate flags, loaded weapons and the following message, “We are here to defend ourselves. That’s one of our rights here in America.” Read more

Neo-Nazis Antagonize Marchers Protesting SB 1070 in Phoenix

This past Saturday, well over 50,000 people attended a rally in Phoenix, Arizona to protest the racist S.B. 1070 bill signed by Arizona governor Jan Brewer in April. People from all across the country traveled to Phoenix and braved the extreme heat in order to express their outrage over the law. The march was non-violent and passed without incident. A pro-S.B. 1070 rally was scheduled for later on Saturday but some of the anti-immigrant folks decided to show up to the earlier rally to show off their support for the racist law.

One of those people was neo-Nazi J.T. Ready. Ready and a half dozen others protested the anti-S.B. 1070 march. Ready and his cronies showed up not only with signs and confederate flags but also loaded guns. One of Ready’s fellow protesters was wearing a t-shirt promoting a “white peoples party.” That same man had a loaded shotgun strung across his shoulder. Ready was the spokesman for the protesters and when asked if they were ready to use their weapons he responded, “We are prepared to defend ourselves. That’s one of our rights here in Arizona too.” Read more

Arizona Militia Plans Anti-immigrant Activities on Cinco de Mayo

A posting on the website ArizonaMilitia.com this week stated:

Arizona Citizens Militia calls on Arizonans to celebrate “Cinco de Ammo” by asking everyone to purchase five boxes of ammunition on 5 May 2010

In the aftermath of the passing of the racist S.B. 1070 in Arizona, thousands of people took to the streets throughout the county in protest of the bill. Militias, white nationalists and anti-immigrant activists have chosen May 5, Cinco de Mayo, as their day of protest against immigrants. The neo-Nazi organization, the National Socialist Movement (NSM) have at least one anti-immigrant protest rally planned for May 5. An NSM member posted this comment on the white nationalist message-board Stormfront last week:

Fighting Fascism is a Global Effort

anti-fascistSince early last year the United States has seen rapid growth in many sectors of the radical right. There has been unprecedented expansion of anti-government militia groups, increased anti-immigrant rhetoric in the tea party movement, and deeply troubling proof of the relationship between anti-immigrant groups and white nationalists. With all this rage in our own backyard, it has been easy to forget that fighting fascism is truly a global effort. While the outcome may be disappointing, one effort stands out amongst all others.

Over the course of the last year and a half in Poland, the anti-racist organization ‘Nigdy Wiecej’ (translated as Never Again) has patiently attempted to convince the online auction website, Allegro.pl, to discontinue its sale of Nazi memorabilia, white power music, and racist propaganda. The website is Poland’s largest internet trader and similar in format to E-Bay. Read more

Willis Carto Reaches Out to More Extreme Anti-Semites

Willis Carto is not your typical 83-year-old. Instead of spending his days basking in the Florida sun or playing cards, Willis is still very active in his life’s work. His activities revolve around anti-Semitism and racism. Carto runs the anti-Semitic publication, American Free Press. American Free Press evolved out of The Spotlight magazine which stopped printing in 2001 after Carto’s assets were severely diminished due to a lawsuit. This lawsuit may have crippled him and his network financially but it did not damper their spirit. Along with American Free Press, Carto publishes the historical revisionist publication, The Barnes Review which specializes in Holocaust denial.

In recent months Carto and his cronies have been very active. Not only have they courted anti-immigrant organizations such as Center for Immigration Studies, but they have also reached out to more extreme anti-Semites. One example of this is an article published in the September 21 & 28 edition of American Free Press written by B. Frederick White. The article, entitled “Protesters So No ‘Tolerance’ for Rights of White Activists”, promotes the National Socialist Movement, (NSM) a neo-Nazi organization. At the end of the article, an address and telephone number are provided for readers to get more information on the movement. The organizations website NSM88.org is also listed. The number 88 has a special meaning for neo-Nazis; each 8 represents the 8th letter in the alphabet which is ‘h’, thus 88 translates to ‘hh’ which is short for Heil Hitler. Read more

Minneapolis Neighborhood Stands United Against White Nationalism

A few months ago, I wrote about how a small community in Ohio was fighting back against the rise of hate crimes by creating a diversity task force. Last weekend the neighborhood of Midtown, in Minneapolis held a day long workshop entitled, “More Than Skin Deep: Uprooting White Privilege and White Supremacy One Cell at a Time” at the local Young Women’s Christian Association, YWCA. The workshop was designed “for white people who already have an understanding of white privilege and white supremacy (WP/WS) and want to learn more about how to dismantle WP/WS through embodiment work, education, visioning and practical action.” The workshop was completely booked, filling all 40 seats available. The event went off without a hitch and was very successful by all accounts. But there is cause for cheer not only for the workshop that went on inside the YWCA but also for the events that took place outside.

Keep the Klan Kleaning

Just when you thought that the Klan had been swept away by the tidal wave of racist anti-immigrant activity across the nation (that is, by the “mainstream” groups that stole the anti-immigrant mantra from under the hood) the robed warriors of the Springfield, Missouri area’s National Socialist Movement have once again triumphed in their abiding commitment to keep America clean.

A half-mile of roadsides outside Springfield will still be the Klan’s to clean in the adopt-a-highway program, complete (we presume) with a nice rainbow sign denoting their obligation. Naturally, Missouri officials have never been too supportive of the idea, but they lost that battle some time ago in the courts. Their most recent efforts to undercut the Klan by renaming the stretch of highway after the venerable Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel, an icon of American theology and human rights, was kindly but firmly declined by Rabbi Heschel’s esteemed daughter, Susannah. Her decision should be deeply respected. Read more

Sheriff Joe Called Upon to Renounce Neo-Nazi Followers

Phoenix Mayor Phil Gordon came out swinging at Sheriff Joe last week, demanding that he renounce his neo-Nazi fan base in light of the Holocaust Museum shooting. Phoenix New Times Reports:

In a response to the tragedy today at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum where 88-year-old white supremacist James von Brunn allegedly opened fire killing a security guard before being severely wounded himself, Phoenix Mayor Phil Gordon called on Sheriff Joe Arpaio to distance himself from his neo-Nazi and racist supporters.

“I’m calling upon the sheriff of Maricopa County to denounce the neo-Nazis and the Nazis today,” said Gordon during a press conference this afternoon.”Not that I believe that the sheriff is a Nazi or a neo-Nazi. Let me be very clear, he has given the sense of recognition to the neo-Nazis and Nazis that he’s associated with.” Read more
